The Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Victor Dominello, has recently announced that by July 2019, all standard property transactions in NSW will be conducted electronically via the PEXA workspace, and all Certificates of Title will be phased out and replaced with e-Titles.
Property settlements and transactions have been slowly introduced to the digital world for some time now with transfers, discharges of mortgage, mortgages, caveats and the like being registered electronically on the PEXA network rather than by way of a paper based system.
This transition period is coming to an end however and certain transactions are now being mandated. As of yesterday 1 March 2017, the majority of discharges of mortgage, mortgages and refinances being required to be registered electronically.
Most recently, the NSW Government has determined that NSW will be completely paperless with respect to property transactions by July 2019.
